TAP by Todd Pownell is a jewelry collection that sets stones up side down so we can appreciate their underside. Gold and oxidized silver with small diamonds set in dapped discs give an incredibly large amount of sparkly life to rings and earrings.

The interaction of dark and light metals mixed with fine gold and diamonds combine to evoke a strong sense of mystery and sublime nature. This reverse setting effectively captures and reflects light in a succession of broad flashes from oblique angles creating the feeling of twilight. The emotive experience is primary with passions held over order and the senses are moved into the pleasures of the imagination.

The experience of melting steel rods together years ago in shop class started Todd on his journey towards working with metals and using his hands to make objects. Todd honed his skills working with "fine jewelers" and learned to set many different types of fascinating gemstones which led him to study gemology. He was mesmerized with the internal properties of crystal structure, refractive indexes, variations and hardness of gems.

W29 Showroom announces their represention of Antwerp based jewelry collection, Wouters & Hendrix.

Katrin Wouters and Karen Hendrix are the masterminds behind the collection. The two women began designing together 25 years ago as best friends and are now a firm part of Antwerp’s fashion scene.

Along the way, their mix of refinement and adventure became more and more sophisticated and so did the materials of their craft shifting from copper to sterling silver and semi-precious stones such as onyx, smoky quartz, moonstone, citrine, jade, chrysoprase, mother of pearl. W & H seek out the shapes which best display the characteristics of semi-precious stones to their advantage with drops, flowers, rectangles.

Humour is an endless inspiration in their work resulting in daring and eclectic pieces. Chains, medaillons and pendants reoccur in the different collections with haunting names. This jewelry is a dialogue between ostentation and austerity, between shadow and light.

But be not mistaken, they will continue to embrace the daily mysteries, to travel in their world of ludic discoveries, to fall for this first glance which reveals a whole universe. They will remain, as they say it themselves, completely trapped. W&H are very proud to be able to currently distribute their GOLD collection and to have started a new tale in the world of jewelry.

Few designers are bold enough to start their own clothing line straight out of fashion school, but that wasn’t the case for Sunghee Bang.

She received widespread acclaim at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where her designs won first place in both her Associate and Bachelor of Fine Art graduation shows, in Art and Knitwear respectively.

Sunghee enjoyed further success in competitions for The Fashion Group International (FGI), Go Red and Lululemon Athletics. Her steady stream of internships with New York designers Donna Karan, J Mendel, Jill Stuart and Peter Som allowed her to gain knowledge of the industry, and further developed her own unique vision.

In 2008, several of Sunghee’s print designs found their way into Alexander McQueen’s Spring-Summer 2009 collection. Her apprenticeship with this prestigious design house in London solidified her desire to be a big international designer in her own right.

At its core, minimal innovative shapes and exquisite tailoring define Sunghee’s aesthetic. Her meticulous techniques in patternmaking, knitting, and textiles give her ready-to-wear basics an understated allure and depth. Her designs reflect the idea that a touch of androgyny makes a woman more feminine, and minimalism is always sophisticated.

Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Sunghee currently resides in Brooklyn.

This collection is inspired by the magic hour. The of the day when the sun is set, but there is still light in the sky. The yellow fades and hues of pinks, oranges and blues are on the horizon. Abstract elements of the magic hour mied with island kitsch clothing result in a modern interpretation of tiki dresses and Hawaiian blouses. Blown up pineapple prints acquire a reptile texture, banana shapes create floral patterns, as repeated images of the horizon during the magic hour become hazy free flowing stripes. The silhouettes of the collection reflect the same kind of airiness captured by the prints.

If Audrey Hepburn were still swanning around the European coastline a la Roman Holiday, we think Rodebjer’s Spring 2012 collection would lend itself rather fittingly to her holiday wardrobe.'

Inspired by the rainbow of colors upon an artist’s palette, New Yorker Carin Rodebjer delivers a sun-drenched range of wearable garments that scream fun-loving with a generous twist of old Hollywood glamor. Wide-legged tailored slacks fall like umbrella branches beneath loose-fitting shirts and knits. Up above, wide-brimmed hats flop in the manner of oversized banana leaves, enveloping your face partially in a way Rachel Zoe would no doubt die for. Well, we die.

Splashes of pop-color blocking (each and every one off the color wheel) and flirtatious cuts add youth to such timeless sophistication. A ultramarine blue full-length skirt features one helluva cheeky thigh-grazing split down one side. Brown leather panels have been stitched into a canary yellow jacket with shoulder pads. Crepe clashes with leather all over the place while plastic sandals, nylon bathing suits and black leather pumps add further dimensions. Breezy cut-outs and nautical stripes are scattered about the collection also. A welcomed ray of sunshine as we can only dream of (and countdown until) warmer days.
